Redfern PCYC Boxing

Police & Community Youth Clubs (PCYC) are a network of Australian non-profit, community organisations, founded in New South Wales. The Mission of PCYC is to get young people active in life; develop their skills, character and leadership; and prevent and reduce crime by and against young people. Redfern is a inner city suburb of Sydney and is subject to extensive redevelopment plans by the state government, to increase the population and reduce the concentration of poverty in the suburb. Redfern has been characterised by migrant populations that have lived in the area and is notorious for the 2004 Redfern Riots and is also the home of the infamous “Block”,  The Aboriginal Housing Company (AHC) which was set up as the first urban Aboriginal community housing provider, using grant money to purchase the houses on the Block. As a result the area is important to the Aboriginal community. Kate Lewis lived in Redfern and trained at the Redfern PCYC boxing gym. These are the local PCYC boys.
